On my trip to Maui during the fall of 2019 I wanted to check out some unique smaller hotels - I chose The Plantation Inn as home during my last 2 nights in Hawaii.
The Plantation Inn boasts an excellent location (although keep in mind it's not on the beach) in Lahaina. A couple blocks off Front Street it's a quiet spot - but a convenient, short walk to shopping and restaurants.
With it's expansive, welcoming porch and plantation style architecture it's a lovely spot to call home during your time on Maui. The pool isn't large - but since there are only 18 rooms it was never crowded. My husband and I enjoyed breaks from the heat there!
A made to order breakfast is served every morning in the courtyard (included with your room price). Plantation Inn is home to the much acclaimed French restaurant Gerard's Maui - who also oversees the breakfast menu.
During our visit we stayed in an Aloha Room with a small balcony and nice view of Lahaina. My favorite part of the room was the Hawaiian style quilt on the bed! The room is a generous in size, super clean - even if a bit outdated (partly the charm/style of this place). My one complaint (and it's a big one!) is The Plantation Inn needs to upgrade their beds!
The Plantation Inn has garnered may awards in recent years; such as making Conde' Nast's list of Top 12 Hotels in Hawaii and Hawaii Magazine's Reader's Choice award numerous times. Being a small, adults only property - I recommend this hotel for couples, solo travelers who are looking for a more relaxed, quiet stay.
Until the next adventure - bon voyage!
