The Nordic Inn is a lovely small lodge located within walking distance of the Mt. Crested Butte ski area. My husband and I stayed here for one night on a spur of the moment trip to Crested Butte in July. The location of the Nordic Inn is hard to beat - especially in the winter! It's a short couple block walk to the ski lifts and free bus (the bus is handy for going into town, as it's about two miles away from the ski resort area). From my previous stay during the winter of 2012 the entire property has been refurbished (the rooms especially getting a well deserved overhaul). I love how they left the exterior of the building in tact to it's original era! The rooms aren't large but the beds are comfy and there's adequate storage for longer stays. I liked the wood ceilings... a little rustic without over the top mountain decor. Even though it doesn't have the amenities of larger properties (but also no expensive resort fees) it does have a hot tub, ski storage area, complimentary wi-fi and free parking! The common areas are also well appointed with a huge comfy leather sectional couch, cozy fire place, tea and cookies available 24/7 and a nice selection of books and games. We did not get a chance to meet the couple who owns the Nordic, but the lady who checked us in was very friendly - offering tips on hiking and the area. Also a nice touch was the personal phone call a few days before our reservation to confirm our date and details (if you call them they will also accommodate certain pets). If you enjoy staying at unique smaller properties, with friendly local service, prime location to ski lifts, and value for the area then the Nordic Inn is a great choice!
Until the next adventure - bon voyage!
