Another spot instagram has made famous! Last spring during our road trip home from Tucson - we made a stop at Horseshoe Bend. My husband and I were a bit worried it wouldn't live up to the hype or photos... we were wrong! This horseshoe shaped bend in the Colorado River is even more dramatic and jaw dropping in person. Located near Page, Arizona - this 1000 feet canyon is definitely worth a visit! Here's a few tips to make your visit more enjoyable.
1. Entrance Fee
The fee is $10 per vehicle to enter. Keep in mind there's no reentry - so if you want to stay for sunset you'll need to plan accordingly. If the parking lot is full when you arrive you have to wait until a car exits, as street parking is no longer allowed.
They just opened a brand new parking facility this past spring and it's worth the fee to enter! With Horseshoe Bend's newfound fame - the new pavement, RV parking and bathroom facilities are nice upgrades.
3. The Trail
The walk is 1.3 miles round trip on a nicely groomed path. Pets are allowed but keep in mind during certain times of the year it gets extremely hot! Be sure to bring sunscreen, water bottles and a hat for shade from the strong sun.
There isn't food or drink available for purchase at Horseshoe Bend (it's a gorgeous spot to bring a picnic!). In Page (about 4 miles away) I suggest grabbing lunch or dinner at the local Italian restaurant - Strombolis (order the Tuscany pizza - yum!)
I highly recommend a visit to Horseshoe Bend! There's also a ton of other fun things to do in this area! Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon are all close by.
Until the next adventure - bon voyage!
