Travel by Kris’s Top 6 Ideas for “Armchair Travel”

1. Escape in a Book

Immerse yourself in a different world through the pages of a book or magazine! Conde' Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure are two of my favorites to fuel wanderlust. Now's the time to read that guide book (my local bookstore is delivering) or check out a travel book from your local library through the Libby app.

I'd love for you to join my Travel by Kris Book Club! We've traveled to Hawaii, Russia, Cuba and we're currently in The Netherlands reading "Searching for Sylvie Lee".

2. Plan Your Next Trip

Travel is also a state of mind and the planning process is proven to make us happy! Write out your bucket list, save travel pins on Pinterest, construct a vacation vision board, or visit my Travel by Kris website for inspiration and ideas.

3. Watch Travel Shows

I'm giving you permission (in case you needed it! 😉 ) to watch hours of TV - one of my favorites is Samantha Brown's "Places to Love". Transport yourself to an exotic destination in one of these 50 travel movies put together by Conde' Nast Traveler. I also recommend the Travel Channel or National Geographic.

4. Show off Your Travel Pics

All those vacation photos on your phone - what a great time to sort and organize them! Stop having to scroll and pick out favorites to hang in your home or make an album from your latest trip! Would you like to hone your photography skills? My husband is a professional photographer and shares his best tips here.

5. Take a Virtual Tour

Missing the view from your favorite hotel? Click here to enjoy live streaming from hotels around the world. Do you visit museums when you travel? If so, enjoy these virtual tours from home! Need some fresh air - visit a National Park from the comfort of your couch.

6. Organize Your Travel "Stuff"

Spending more days at home is a good opportunity to "Marie Kondo" items you travel with. Throw out expired travel size toiletries, take stock of your carry on items, check your luggage for damage (and clean it!). Don't forget to check the expiration dates on your passports and driver's license (are you REAL ID compliant?) Use this time to sign up for travel memberships you've been putting off. Also, check those balances - maybe you have enough points for a flight! 🙂

I'd love to hear how you're passing the extra hours at home - please share your ideas for not going stir crazy. 🙂 Stay healthy and positive travel friends!

Until the next adventure - bon voyage!
