The Turnberry Isle Resort and Club in Aventura, Florida is a luxurious resort located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. This 300 acre paradise is part of the Autograph Collection of Marriott properties. My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful stay here in late October of 2013. This resort is extra special to us since we also chose this as the location of our marriage!
Unbeknownst to us, the last two weeks of October is the slowest time at the resort. We loved all the extra attention and not feeling crowded at any areas of the resort. This is also a time to watch for extra specials or perks the resort may offer for staying during this slower time of year.
The Turnberry has so much to offer, one doesn’t need to leave to have an incredible vacation! First, it’s a golfer’s paradise, as it has two 18 hole courses designed by Raymond Floyd on it’s property. It’s easy to stay active with terrific pools (the kids will love the lazy river and water slide!), tennis and a large fitness center.
Even though The Turnberry isn’t located on the beach, it does have it’s own private beach area just a few minutes away. With complimentary shuttles running back and forth every few minutes it’s a hassle free way to enjoy the beach. If shopping is your thing – the shuttle also goes between the Aventura Mall (we met other guests from South America that travel to The Turnberry just for a shopping trip to this mall!) and the resort as well.
If you’re in need of some relaxation and pampering, the Turnberry has a fantastic spa! The sweetest woman made me feel spoiled before my big day and I walked away with beautiful toes too! 🙂
I loved our room at The Turnberry! The rooms are spacious with the one of the most comfy beds I’ve slept on in a hotel room. It had nice size balcony to enjoy breakfast or a drink. The bathroom was large with marble throughout… cozy bathrobes to use and a soaking tub to relax in. It was difficult to even leave the room… 😉
One of our favorite places at the Turnberry was the Bourbon Steak restaurant. It was THE place to hang out in the evenings. Even though the resort wasn’t busy during the time we stayed there, Bourbon Steak is popular with the locals so it was busy each evening we were there (great people watching!). I can’t rave enough about the food at Bourbon Steak…one of the best filets I’ve ever had (and I’m originally an Iowa girl – I know good steak!).
The Turnberry Isle Resort is a terrific option for family travel, business/meeting travel, golfers, or those looking for a romantic trip or destination wedding. I’m looking forward to more visits to this incredible resort!
