24 Hours in Park City

Having just spent a couple days visiting family in Salt Lake City – my husband and I couldn’t resist a detour to Park City on our drive home. Living in a tourist mountain town myself – I was anxious to compare notes. 😉 

With it’s mountain backdrop – Park City offers an abundance of year round outdoor activities and also plays host to the famous Sundance film festival each winter.

Since this was a quick trip with only 24 hours – I made the most of my time! Besides the obvious skiing and mountain biking – these are 4 things I recommend when in Park City.

OLYMPIC PARK

Salt Lake City was host to the 2002 Winter Olympics and the Utah Olympic Park in Park City was where the bobsled, skeleton, luge, ski jumping, and Nordic combined events were held. 

If visiting on the weekends don’t miss the freestyle show with the skiers and snowboarders doing acrobatics before landing in a pool!

As my daughter was a ski racer growing up – I especially enjoyed the Alf Engen ski museum! The retro ski clothing exhibit alone is a worth a walk through. 🙂

HEARTH & HILL

We worked up a hunger after visiting Olympic Park and were fortunate enough to stumble upon Hearth and Hill in the Kimball Junction area. 

This new restaurant with it’s stylish decor was one of our favorite places we ate during this trip! 

The waitress recommended their grilled chicken and she didn’t steer me wrong! Pro tip- don’t order on a first date as the bacon onion jam and hot pepper aioli was running down my arm as we ate. I literally had to take a mid sandwich break to wash my hands! 🙂

Also worth noting – my husband and I are big fans of sitting at the bar or high tables when dining out and Hearth and Hill has the most comfy bar chairs I’ve ever sat on! 

ART
Besides being a mecca for outdoor adventures, Park City has also embraced it’s artistic side. We enjoyed the sculptures and murals scattered throughout town. 

Visit Park City has a handy self guided tour you can follow. 

My personal favorite spot was the mural in the tunnel by McPolin Farm. You can park on the side of the road and walk to the tunnel or bike from town to access it via the bike path. What a beautiful and picturesque valley that’s been preserved by Park City!

BEER

For you beer lovers I suggest the Haze Craze hazy IPA or the Snowbird Session IPA at the Wasatch Brewery. And if you’re from lower altitudes… the 4% alcohol in their beer on tap isn’t the worst idea! 😉
