Conveniently located about 15 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale Airport – my husband and I stayed 2 nights at the newly renovated Hollywood Beach Marriott before our cruise departure from Port Everglades last fall.
With nothing on our agenda for a couple days – it was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Florida lifestyle! There are a few things that I think stand out about this hotel:
1. Location
This oceanside hotel is located directly on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. Almost 2 1/2 miles long – it’s a terrific place to soak in the views, take a stroll, eat al fresco or take a beach cruiser for a spin. During our stay we enjoyed breakfast outside and walked the entire boardwalk.
During our visit they were experiencing a cold spell (unprecedented large waves and flooding), so we didn’t test out the water this trip. But, it’s a pretty beach and only a few steps from the Marriott.
2. Newly Renovated Rooms
All of the rooms were recently upgraded with new beds, furniture and wood flooring (the trend in hotels the past year or two!). The bluish hues go perfectly with the ocean surroundings and the bed was super comfy!
Most of the room categories are classified as ocean view or partial ocean view. Yes, technically there are sea views – but, this is a long narrow building so many rooms also overlook a parking garage. There are a few oceanfront rooms that face the beach and boardwalk. We didn’t encounter any noise issues with our partial ocean view and each room also has a small balcony.
3. Latitudes Bar
Hotel bars and restaurants tend to be hit or miss – but not at the Hollywood Beach Marriott! Latitudes was a fun place to hang out, grab a drink, listen to music, and watch a game.
We ended up eating dinner here both nights during our stay (their french dip was tasty!). Also, if you’re a beer drinker – try the Intracoastal IPA, specially brewed for this hotel!
There were many locals here – so we knew we found a good spot!
I recommend this hotel for families and couples who are looking for a relaxed, casual atmosphere during your vacation in Florida. It’s also the perfect add on for a couple days before your cruise departure.
Until the next adventure – bon voyage!
