1. Breweries
With over 150 local craft breweries – San Diego is a mecca for beer lovers! The North Park neighborhood claims to be “the best beer neighborhood in the country”. After a few treks to North Park – I still have so many more brews to sample! 🙂
You can even get your beer and sugar fix simultaneously at The Donut Bar. Choose made from scratch donuts and 20 local brews on tap!
2. Coronado Island
Don’t miss a visit to Coronado Island on your vacation to San Diego – take the bridge and escape the city for the day. Before starting your day at the beach – head to Clayton’s Cafe for brunch. It’s worth the wait (there’s always a line) and my daughter highly recommends the banana bread french toast! Watch for seals as you hang out at the beach and for you beachcombers – during my last trip I spotted numerous sand dollars. After exploring or lunching at the Del – don’t miss a famous west coast sunset from Coronado!
3. Hotels
San Diego is home to numerous amazing hotels! With it’s prime beach location, luxury included and minutes from downtown San Diego – the iconic Hotel del Coronado is a must stay.
If you’re looking for a more affordable option – I recommend The Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Bayfront. It has modern rooms, a desirable bay front location and rooftop pool with killer views (also a pretty spot to eat breakfast).
For a trendy, boutique hotel – look no further than The Guild Hotel. My last visit to San Diego I stayed in this 100 year old historic YMCA in the heart of downtown. The rooms are luxurious and it has a very cool lobby bar!
4. Casual/Outdoor Lifestyle
My daughter and I like to compare San Diego to Colorado – just add year round flip flops and sand. If you enjoy outdoor activities – this is a destination you’ll love! Water sports, beach activities and outdoor events are numerous in San Diego.
Outdoor dining is also popular and most restaurants you’ll find terrace seating to enjoy the mild weather, ocean breeze and sea air! Leave your formal attire at home and enjoy the California casual style.
Until the next adventure – bon voyage!
