After a long layover in London – my husband and I were treated to a wonderful 2 night stay at the Intercontinental Budapest! The rooms are generous in size with the all important comfy bed (and a/c – which isn’t always standard in European hotels, but needed!).
1. The Views
This is by far the best reason to stay at the Intercontinental Budapest! Be sure to book a river view room. You’ll be mesmerized by the views through the gigantic picture window (window seat included)! It’s the perfect spot for gazing at the Buda Castle and watching life go by on the Danube. Open the window for fresh air, photo ops, and sounds of the promenade below. It’s a prime spot to watch the sunset and catch the dazzling lights on the waterfront.
2. Location
Located on the banks of the Danube and riverfront promenade – there’s no better spot to call home while you’re in Budapest. The Intercontinental Budapest is within walking distance of the Chain Bridge, Market Hall, the Hungarian Parliament Building and numerous sites in Budapest. You’re also nearby to many restaurant and shopping choices. I recommend getting a drink at the hotel’s outside bar area for people watching along the promenade.
3. Room Service
Sleeping in after a late night arrival – we missed the included breakfast buffet our first morning (I’m told it was terrific!). My husband and I normally like to visit local cafes, but being hungry with a bit of jet lag – we opted to order room service. So glad we did! We felt like celebrities… wrapped in cozy robes, enjoying THAT view while eating home made European bread! The service was so friendly and it’s a bargain for American travelers – we opted for the same spoiling on our second morning! 🙂
Staying at the Intercontinental Budapest is one of the best vacation starts we’ve had! I highly recommend this hotel for your visit to Budapest.
Until the next adventure – bon voyage!
