1. New Countries Visited
Inspired by the series “Borgen” – Greenland moved to the top of my travel list! When I saw a Celebrity cruise that combined Iceland and Greenland – I signed up right away. These destinations truly live up to all the hype they receive and it never stops being special stepping foot on new land. 🙂
2. Best New Hike
One of my favorite hobbies is hiking and I like to try out at least one new trail each year. Most of my short treks are in Colorado, but my favorite new one in 2023 was in Newfoundland. With epic coastal views, the Signal Hill trails in St. John’s can be combined for a fantastic loop from town.
3. Personal News
My husband and I moved from our beloved Frisco, Colorado… down to only a mile high on the Front Range of Colorado. 😉 It’s small town, meets suburbia, meets ranches – all with epic mountain views. We’re excited about a little less snow and closer drive to the airport!
4. Epic Sunset
I know the term is overused – but the sky was on fire, as it set over the Rocky Mountains last fall! I sat in my driveway with my pup, as we watched nature showing off. A good reminder sometimes the best scenery is in our own backyard.
5. Chasing Waterfalls
So much water during our days in Iceland – I lost track of how many waterfalls we hiked to! My favorite was the view standing behind Seljalandsfoss in the southern part of the country.
6. Unique Landscape
One of the best things about cruising is sailing through areas you can’t access on a land based trip. Prins Christian Sund in Greenland is one of these places. Ginormous floating icebergs, glacier viewing up close, jagged mountains, remote wilderness – it’s a day I won’t soon forget!
7. Colorado Stuff
Living in a state where the views and activities never end – I vow each year to keep exploring my adopted home state. One of the best new things I did in Colorado last year was attend the dog sledding races on Lake Dillon (highly recommend if you’re skiing nearby in Breck or Vail). Pure joy for those dogs working in their snowy element!
8. Book/Travel Inspiration
Japan and South Korea have been on my husband and my bucket list since pre – Covid (it got canceled twice to due to closures). After reading the Island of Sea Women last year (about the women deep free divers on Jeju Island), it has prompted me to get that trip re planned!
9. New Holiday Traditions
Since moving to a new area, my husband and I are making new traditions for the holidays. If you live in Colorado or are visiting in December – don’t miss Old Town Fort Collins all lit up – it’s dazzling! While you’re there – order a pre dinner cocktail at The Emporium (part of The Elizabeth Hotel) bar, before moving onto your meal at Rare (make a reservation – it’s popular). You won’t be disappointed!
10. Client Adventures
From Africa, India, South America… and everywhere in between – my clients were the most adventurous they’ve ever been in 2023! It’s so fun and rewarding planning these bucket list trips – and I’m so lucky to work with a great group of people! 🙂
I hope this inspires you to reflect on your 2023 experiences and also to start planning future adventures!
Until the next adventure – bon voyage!
