Let’s address the new(ish) elephant in the room… Artificial Intelligence. It’s a recent hot topic in the travel industry… can it plan your trips for you, will it replace travel advisors, and so on.
I’m by no means an expert in AI and I only recently experimented with ChatGPT (wow – impressive!). For now, I want to clarify how I will and won’t be using AI in my travel business.
When I started my travel agency in 2006 I knew I was going to be the single face of Travel by Kris and the obvious reason I use my name in my business and social media. I also knew from the start I didn’t want the hassle of employees. 😉
The face of TBK is me… during a workshop I took years ago – I narrowed the Travel by Kris brand as authentic, friendly, curious, adventurous, and inspiring. As I remind myself of these descriptions… it comes to question how can I be authentic if AI is doing the writing for me (also one of the pieces of my business I enjoy the most). So please know; when you receive my email and newsletters in your inbox or see my updates on social media – those are all being written and sent by me.
AI doesn’t have feelings (so far! ;)) and relationships are one of the things I value most running Travel by Kris. The relationships with my clients, travel vendors, and my agency affiliation are of utmost importance.
I’m also definitely not against AI! I’m all for exploring ways it can make my life easier on the back end and obligations of running a business. I’ll be completely sold once it can do all my bookkeeping and make dinner! 🙂
