When my daughter was younger she was obsessed with SeaWorld, so my first visit was over a spring break – to feed her addiction. 😉 Last year I re visited for a few days during a month long Texas road trip. I’ve put together 5 things you should try on your trip to this Texan city!
1. San Antonio River Walk
Yes it’s touristy and busy – but that doesn’t mean you should skip it! I recommend taking a riverboat cruise – it’s great for all ages, provides pretty views from the water and you’ll learn some history of the area. It’s also a great spot to stretch your legs and or grab a bite to eat.

2. San Antonio Missions
There are 5 missions in the San Antonio area. Located near the San Antonio River Walk – the Alamo is the most famous and frequently visited (remember the Alamo? 😉 ). Entry is free and is open every day of the year except Christmas Day. We also visited Mission Concepcion – the oldest unrestored stone church in the U.S. – the grounds are lovely.

3. Tower of the Americas
This is THE spot for happy hour in San Antonio! Bar 601 hosts the drinks, apps and views from 4:30-7pm every Monday-Friday. Be prepared for standing room only – it’s a very popular spot!
4. Blue Star Brewery
Located in the Blue Star Arts Complex this brewery was one of my favorite spots to hang out in San Antonio! The servers were extra nice, they had a tasty IPA (the Fly Pig), and their patio was dog friendly (we were traveling with our pup). It’s also the perfect spot to start a walk along the River Walk.
5. King William Historic District
This neighborhood south of downtown was made for walking! The streets are adorned with ornate 19th century mansions in Greek, Victorian and Italian styles.

Bonus Fun: SeaWorld
If you’re traveling with kids (or just a sea life lover! ) – you won’t want to miss a visit to SeaWorld. We spent 2 full days here with my daughter and didn’t get bored! Between the attractions, shows and rides there’s plenty to do! I suggest taking one of the behind the scenes tours. My daughter was mesmerized by the stories and up close and personal encounters!
