Touring the Westin Moana Surfrider Resort and Spa in Waikiki last fall was quite the treat! With its prime location, lovely courtyard featuring gorgeous banyan trees, and Westin hospitality – you’ll be spoiled with a stay here!
1. History
The Moana Surfrider opened in 1901 as the first hotel on Waikiki Beach; earning its name as the “First Lady of Waikiki”. With its grand entrance, beautiful porches, and old world charm – it’s a most welcoming place to call home during your visit!
2. Rooms
I toured a lovely room in the historic Banyon Wing! Plantation shutters frame your views of the courtyard and Waikiki Beach. The hotel also boasts the Tower and Diamond wings that offer ocean and city views. For the best ocean views I recommend the ocean view/ocean suites rooms in the Tower Wing. All of the rooms have the famous Heavenly Beds, spa products, and all the extra amenities you expect from a Westin!

3. Ambiance
Think of yourself as entering a southern plantation with beautiful pillars and sweeping staircases into the hotel’s elegant lobby! The gentle breeze from the beach will entice you to the hotel’s courtyard and a few steps farther you’ll be on Waikiki Beach. From this location on Waikiki you’ll experience one of the best best views of Diamond Head and be in the heart of the action! Back in the courtyard you can enjoy your meals from the hotel’s verandah, get a cocktail at the bar, or take a dip in the pool!
Put this classic hotel on your must stay list if visiting Honolulu! It’s best suited for romantic vacations, special occasions, or a girls’ trip (if traveling with children to Waikiki I suggest this hotel instead).
Until the next adventure – bon voyage!
